About the Lafayette Campus
Ivy Tech Lafayette serves the students and communities that make up Tippecanoe, Montgomery, Fountain, Warren, Benton, Newton, White, Carroll, and Clinton counties. With its tall trees, central mall, and stately buildings, the Ivy Tech Lafayette campus looks like a traditional liberal arts college. However, the majority of our students fit a much different profile than those attending a typical private college or land-grant university. That is, most Ivy Tech students are part-time because they work 20+ hours a week; 60% receive Pell grants and many are single parents.
With more than 12,000 students enrolled, Ivy Tech Lafayette prepares students to enter the workforce or continue their education at a four-year institution. Our students have the opportunity to further their education and fulfill their career aspirations in a learning environment that prides itself in what we call “wrap-around services.” When students are on campus, they have direct contact with faculty, advisors, tutors, and other support services designed to give each student the greatest chance to succeed.
Among a wide array of programs, Ivy Tech Lafayette offers those that lead to high-demand careers such as precision agriculture, engineering, advanced manufacturing, business and information technology, education, healthcare, and energy technology.
Students learn through hands-on experiences that mirror those of the careers for which they train.
Supporting Students
Through the generosity of alumni, faculty, staff, community leaders, and friends, Ivy Tech Lafayette offers over $500,000 annually in student scholarship support. In addition, gifts are made to the Ivy Tech Foundation for Lafayette campus students who face unexpected issues or emergency situations. We call this program “Ivy Cares.” Student applicants for “Ivy Cares” are reviewed by a committee of staff and administrators to assess the students’ needs and determine, first, if a referral can be made to existing services offered in the community such as Food Finders. Once those options are exhausted, “Ivy Cares” can provide things like gas cards, internet hot spots, loaned laptops, and other non-tuition expenses.
In addressing these emergency needs, our goal at Ivy Tech Lafayette is the break down all barriers to degree completion. We want to help every student stay enrolled, complete their credential or degree and make their career goals a reality. A gift to “Ivy Cares” is one way you can make a difference in an Ivy Tech Lafayette student’s life.
